Discover Programme Training
The Boys' Brigade launched in August 2007 the new Discover programme material for those working with 11 to 15 year olds. This training is free and the intention is to equip Company Section leaders and helpers with a working knowledge of this new programme resource pack and awards scheme. 
 
New Staff Induction Training
This course is designed for new helpers and leaders, who will not be undertaking Youth Leader Training this session. This course which is free of charge, will take participants through Child Protection training including an update on the Protection of Children (Scotland) Act 2003, as well as safety issues including risk assessment. There will also be a short time to learn more about the work of Edinburgh, Leith and District Battalion and ask any questions they may have. New staff who undertake this course and later go on to undertake Youth Leader Training at a later date will be exempt this module.
 
Existing leaders and helpers who wish to have a refresher for child protection training are also welcome to attend this training course.  

Challenge Plus Training
The Boys' Brigade has just launched the Challenge Plus programme materialfor those working with 15 to 18 year olds. This training is free and the intention is to equip Company and Senior Section leaders and helpers with a working knowledge of this new programme resource pack and awards scheme.
 
Captain and Officer In Charge Training
The aim of this training is to equip Boys' Brigade Captains and Officer's in Charge Sections with the skills and knowledge to run an effective Boys' Brigade Company. This course looks at the role of the Captain, planning, managing and developing good youth work. Entry is open to Captains and Officer's in Charge Sections whether taking on the role for the first time or having been in post for a number of years who would like to develop their skills in this area. The cost for this course is £5. This includes the cost of the required Boys' Brigade publications and a buffet lunch. 
 
Youth Leader Training
The aim of this training is to enable participants to deliver the Boys' Brigade mission by equipping them with the skills, knowledge and attitudes to work effectively with children and young people. Please be aware that in order to complete all the required elements for this course, participants are now required to attend all 3 sessions. The cost for this course is £5, which includes the cost of the required Boys' Brigade publications. Only tea and coffee is provided, so participants should bring a packed lunch on the full training days. Each individual registered for Youth Leader Training must at present be active within a Boys' Brigade Company in an adult leadership role. 
 
Emergency First Aid Training
This course will be led by a qualified St Andrew's First Aid Instructor. The course fee is £15 per person. Entry is open to those who already hold an Emergency First Aid Certificate which is due for renewal or those who wish to hold this first aid qualification.
 
Due to the nature of the training, there is a maximum number of 10 places available for this course. 
 
Holiday Leadership Training
The aim of holiday leadership training is to equip Boys' Brigade leaders with the skills, knowledge and understanding to plan and lead holiday activities for children and young people.
 
The cost of this course is £4, to cover the cost of mandatory Boys' Brigade publications. Entry is open to those who need to renew their holiday leadership certificate by attending a course (it is also possible to renew this certificate by means of a log sheet) or those who wish to hold this certificate in order to lead a Company residential stay.
