The Boys’ Brigade (BB), the UK’s longest-running voluntary uniformed youth organisation, is looking for new volunteers in Edinburgh & The Lothians to support new groups and an increase in membership.
With new members and groups joining the organisation in the last six months, the BB is seeking volunteers who can give a regular commitment.
Volunteers come from all walks of life and can be any age. Cameron, 19, Edinburgh is a volunteer and said:
“I get a real sense of enjoyment and happiness from being a volunteering officer as I feel I am giving something back. Anyone can become a volunteer as every person is different and can bring different qualities and traits to the role.”
David Scott, Development Officer of The Boys’ Brigade said:
“We rely heavily on our volunteers to run the local BB groups. We are seeking people of all ages and from all walks of life who can make a real difference to young people in Edinburgh, Leith & District.
“This past year has seen a renaissance, with an increase in membership of the BB. This is great news for the organisation, but we need more adult volunteers to help out to ensure that we keep going in as many towns and villages across Edinburgh & The Lothians as is possible.”
“As a volunteer you will get a great sense of satisfaction from watching the children and young people develop their confidence and skills, as well as have lots of fun. In addition, working to improve your community will give you a huge sense of personal achievement.”
