Four Companies from the Battalion took part in National (UK & ROI) Competitions this Session (2015/16).
7th Edinburgh participated in four out of the six competitions, including: Chess, Badminton, Masterteam and Table Tennis. 7th Edinburgh were crowned Scottish Chess Champions and finished third in the National Final.
48th Edinburgh participated in three competitions, including: Chess, Masterteam and Table Tennis. While they were eliminated in the group stages they have come close to finals before.
65th Edinburgh participated in two competitions, including Badminton and Masterteam. 65th Edinburgh were crowned National Badminton Champions and finished fifth in the National Masterteam Final.
20th Leith was the only Company from the Battalion to participated in Junior 5 a side Football, were they reached the Scottish Final.
It would indeed be nice to see more Companies in the Battalion participating in all of the National Competitions. You don’t need a lot of young people to take part in the different competitions: Badminton requires team of 4, Chess requires a team of 3, Table Tennis requires a team of 3, and Masterteam requires team of 4.
Junior/Senior 5 a side football requires a team of 5 / pool of within stipulated age limits.
A wide range of standards of play and there is some regionalisation in the early rounds.
The Boys' Brigade runs seven National Competitions on an annual basis involving companies across the regions.
These competitions are very popular and provide an opportunity for young people to develop and enjoy a wider BB experience.
Each competition initially operates on a regional basis (as this keeps the travelling down). When the regional rounds have been completed, they will give rise to the best teams who then join together for the National Final and compete for the trophy.
