Ceremony of Beating Retreat

This took place on Sunday 10 May 2009 at Edinburgh Castle Esplanade featuring massed pipes and drums, bugles and brass of Edinburgh, Leith and District Battalion, 6th/8th Dundee, 44th Dundee, 1st Tullialan and 8th Stirling. 

Prior to this event, the bands held a warm up concert in Parliament Square, outside St Giles' Cathedral, before marching up the Royal Mile to Edinburgh Castle for the ceremony of Beating the Retreat. This year we were honoured to have the Boys' Brigade President, Professor Sir Kenneth Calman KCB as our Chief Guest and the Lord and Lady Provost of the City of Edinburgh.
